Bovada Casino Review

Bovada might look unfamiliar to you at first glance, but it’s only the re-branded version of Bodog. So although the new name has only been around for 9-12 months, the entire brand has been around since 1994. Between that and being licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, you can feel good about playing tri-card poker at their casino.

Below you’ll find my review of Bovada purely from the perspective of a tri-card poker player. My goal is for you to be able to use this information to determine whether or not Bovada is the right casino for you.

Playing Tri-Card Poker at Bovada

Play Tri-Card Poker at Bovada

You can play tri-card poker through Bovada’s client or their non-download flash version for free or real money. I decided to try out the non-download version for play money.

The table limits are $1-$500. $500 is significantly higher than the other casinos we’ve received. The chip increments are $1, $5, $25, $100 and $500.

The payouts for tri-card poker are:

Pair+ Payouts

  • Straight Flush – 40:1
  • 3 of a Kind – 30:1
  • Straight – 6:1
  • Flush – 4:1
  • Pair – 1:1

Ante Bonus Payouts

  • Straight Flush – 5:1
  • 3 of a Kind – 4:1
  • Straight – 1:1

The odds for the 3 of a Kind (Pair+ Payouts) are higher than other casinos. Other than that, the software is nice, easy-to-use and if you have any questions they have the rules of the game underneath your betting options.

Other Casino Games at Bovada

You’ll have other choices at Bovada if you get tired of playing tri-card poker. Here is a small look at the other games that you can play:

  • Table Games – Blackjack, baccarat, caribbean draw poker, let ’em ride, pai gow poker and red dog.
  • Slots – Multi-line, multi-reel and progressive slot machines.
  • Video Poker – Deuces wild, aces and eights, jacks or better, joker poker and loose deuces.

Many of these games are available in the non-download version, although you’ll want to double check first. The only way to get access to all the games is to download the entire client.

You can also venture outside of the casino. Bovada offers a full sportsbook, poker room and horse betting.

Bovada’s Promotions

There are a couple of promotions that Bovada offers to their players. Here is a look at the details.

$200 / $500 Welcome Bonus

The first promotion is their Welcome Bonus. This bonus is $200 if you are playing table games and $500 if you are playing slots. I realize this is a review for their tri-card poker game, however, you might feel compelled to take $500 bonus first and play tri-card poker later.

Either bonus requires that you rollover your deposit before you can withdraw your winnings. For the slots bonus you will need to rollover your deposit 50 times, and for the table games you will need to rollover your deposit 80 times.

For example, if you deposit $200 to play tri-card poker, you’ll need to wager $10,000 before you can withdraw your winnings.

If you choose to use the table game bonus, and not play tri-card poker, be aware that games like blackjack, sic bo, craps and roulette will not count towards completing your bonus. For a full list of table games that won’t work, be sure to read Bovada’s terms.

$100-$200 Happy Hour Bonus

The Happy Hour bonus is offered all day on Thursdays. For slots, the bonus is 100% up to $200, and for the other casino games it’s 100% up to $100.

The same rollover requirements from the Welcome Bonus apply to this bonus, too.

Casino Points

You earn points on all the casino games that you play. Bovada will pay you $1 for every 100 points that you earn. Here is the number of points that you earn for every $10 wager:

  • Slots – 3 points
  • Table Games – 2 points
  • Blackjack – 1 point
  • Video Poker – 1 point

Bovada will pay you in casino chips directly into your account every other Friday.

In addition, Bovada is offering a 100% match bonus up to $150 for slots, and up to $100 for table game players, once per week on any day (or time) of your choice.

The same rollover requirements apply to this bonus as the two bonuses above.

Banking Options at Bovada

Deposit methods at Bovada include credit card and Bitcoin. Payout methods are via check or bitcoin. Checks can take up to 10 days to process, and up to a week to reach your home.

Support

Support is available by contact form and phone number. Surprisingly, they don’t have a live chat feature. However, they aim to respond to emails within 4 hours (and in my experience they do) and you can get in touch quickly with someone via phone. Here are the phone numbers you can you use to contact support:

  • General Support – 1-888-263-0000
  • Poker – 1-866-909-ACES (2237)
  • Casino – 1-866-234-1324

The support staff is available 24/7/7.

Bovada is an easy recommendation for your tri-card poker, or other casino, needs. Their bonus is bigger than the other sites and you also have easy access to the poker site – which is Ignition Poker for USA players now – and their sportsbook. All-in-all, you should definitely add Bovada to your tri-card poker lineup.
